Mark Heather
Master of Sciences
Mark has been a hotelier in Southeast Asia for the last 30 years, and he has been in recovery for 28 years. Together with Bill O’Leary, Mark is dedicated to bringing hospitality and long lasting recovery together for all guests at Miracles Asia.

The dream Mark and Bill have is to have a small bespoke private property with professional qualified teams, delivering counselling and care from people in recovery themselves, using the latest evidence-based therapy.

Mark is passionate about supporting his guests, and he manages Miracles on a day-to-day basis. Mark is always available to guests and actively takes part the day-to-day running of program.

Bill O'Leary
Bill is an Australian Professional Mariner, Maritime Tourism Development Adviser and co-author of Southeast Asia’s Super Yacht Cruising Guide – “Southeast Asia Pilot”. He has three decades in planning, design, construction, project development, maintenance and operations of luxury resorts.

Bill has been in recovery himself for over two decades and created Miracles Asia to provide a dedicated space that's free of judgement for addicts and those they affect to be able to get the support they need, and transition into a healthy and happy life.

Tim O'Leary

Born and raised in Phuket, Thailand, Tim brings an international and empathetic perspective to his work at Miracles Asia. A citizen of Thailand and Australia, he is fluent in Thai and profoundly connected to the region both culturally and professionally.

 Tim's own journey has instilled in him a deep understanding and unwavering commitment to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of addiction.

Prior to co-founding Miracles Asia, Tim was an investment analyst with Navis Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm in the Asia-Pacific region. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chapman University in Southern California.

Now based in San Francisco, he leads the U.S. operations, ensuring American clients receive seamless support — from their first inquiry to their transition home after treatment in Thailand.

Joseph Costello is a seasoned clinical leader and U.S. Army veteran with a lifelong commitment to helping others heal and grow.

With more than twenty years of service in the
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, he provided leadership to counseling teams across multiple states and developed trauma-informed programs supporting veterans and their
families. Joe holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.

His approach combines clinical expertise with empathy and authenticity, fostering an environment of trust and collaboration.

At Miracles Asia, he guides the clinical team in delivering integrated, evidence-based care that empowers clients to rebuild their lives with clarity, purpose, and hope.

Markus Scheurer
Originally from Germany and raised in Spain, Max started his career in hospitality, sharpening his customer service and management skills at top hotels like the Radisson SAS in Vienna and Hotel Sacher.

In 2014, Max shifted to addiction recovery, working as a Therapeutic Community Support Worker and Drug & Alcohol Case Manager in Australia.

Max holds certifications in Counseling, Mental Health, Community Service, and Domestic Violence, along with first aid and fire safety training.

At Miracles Asia, Max blends his hospitality expertise with evidence-based therapy, leading a dedicated team and supporting clients' recovery. His holistic and empathetic approach makes him a key part of the team.

Kane Duffy brings over a decade of experience in addiction treatment and mental health, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, mood disorders, and personality disorders.

Before joining Miracles Asia, Kane worked as a Psychotherapist at Resilience CBT in Edinburgh, providing tailored treatment plans for diverse clients. At Castle Craig Hospital, he managed patient caseloads, facilitated CBT groups, and delivered relapse prevention therapies. Kane also led the Serenity Cafe project, supporting individuals in recovery through innovative volunteer programs.

Kane holds a Master’s in Applied Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT. He is a BABCP accredited psychotherapist, committed to delivering personalized, evidence-based care to support clients on their recovery journey.

Diane Allen
Dip, FdA
With over 19 years in addiction and mental health treatment, Diane is a seasoned counsellor holding a qualification in Integrative Counselling, with additional training in CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care. Her journey began at Focus12 Rehab in the UK—first as a client, then returning to become Service Manager.
In 2018, she moved to Thailand, founding her own private practice before joining Siam Rehab and The Dawn in senior clinical roles. She led the creation of gender-specific, trauma-informed therapy groups and helped design an accessible, lower-cost rehab program.

At Miracles Asia, Di brings a deep commitment to recovery and client empowerment. Known for her “forever-young” sense of humour and characteristically colourful wardrobe, she blends evidence-based practice with warmth, wisdom, and a contagious belief in second chances.

Ashan Holgate

Ashan Holgate is a therapist and former professional footballer who is committed to helping others overcome mental health and addiction challenges. Born in the UK and now based in Thailand with his family, Ashan has combined his lived experience with professional expertise to support individuals on their journey toward healing and transformation.
After retiring from professional sport, Ashan transitioned into psychotherapy, earning his BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Counselling (BPS Accredited) graduated membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS). He has since operated his own successful private practice and holistic centre for five years before moving to Miracles Asia, a space devoted to empowering individuals to reclaim control over their minds and lives.
Ashan’s therapeutic approach integrates Gestalt Therapy, Holistic Practices and (CBT), reflecting his belief that all problems begin in the mind — and all healing begins there too. His work focuses on present-moment awareness and subconscious reprogramming, helping clients to not only understand their challenges but to reimagine and recreate their reality from within.

Having personally navigated addiction and the highs and lows of professional sport, Ashan brings authenticity, empathy, and deep understanding to his sessions. He has successfully supported clients facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction — guiding them toward resilience, clarity, and self-discovery.

Ali has over a decade of experience in addiction recovery. With a background in psychology and social work, Ali's expertise in human behavior and mental health provides a solid foundation for his work.

At Miracles Asia, Ali offers day-to-day support to clients, conducting one-on-one sessions, facilitating group therapy, and coordinating with therapists to create personalized treatment plans.

Ali integrates mindfulness, physical activities, and creative therapies into his support strategies, empowering clients to develop resilience and rediscover joy in life. Outside of work, he advocates for mental health awareness and participates in community education programs to reduce the stigma of addiction.

Ali Abdullall’s dedication and holistic approach make him an invaluable member of the Miracles Asia team, inspiring clients towards a substance-free future.

Jack Mashburn

Jack was born in Saigon, Vietnam and raised in Texas on a steady diet of the value of service. From joining the US Marines out of high school and serving in the first Gulf War, to his 30+ year career travelling around the world working with at-risk young people and adults through personal development and experiential education Jack brings a long history of experience in residential operations, transformational coaching, project management, and training and development. His work has taken him across the United States, Bermuda, Sweden, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovenia, Australia, and now Thailand.

He earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington. His is a life member of Alpha Chi National Collegiate Honor Society, past member of the American Society of Criminologists, and Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Sophia is a warm and passionate Miracles Asia team member. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at McGill University. Her academic journey is marked by a strong interest in psychopathology and human behavior, with a particular focus on mental health, addiction, and rehabilitation.

Sophia's passion for building connections and providing support is evident in her role at Miracles Asia. She shares her academic knowledge in various group sessions with residential clients, delivering heartfelt support and valuable guidance as they navigate their recovery journey. Sophia also significantly enhances the facility's online presence and engages with the international community through her social media management skills.

With over 40 years of experience as a sober coach, Danny brings a wealth of knowledge from the Alcoholics Anonymous program literature and its way of life to Miracles Asia. He has worked through the big book and the 12 and 12 for several years helping thousands of people through their addiction treatment and teaching them how to approach a new successful life without drug use and alcohol addiction.

Danny comes from a musical family and he was featured on 60 Minutes news network in the USA, interviewed by Bob Simon, when he was the musical director of The Portman Ritz Carlton in Shanghai.

Danny has been around the music industry since the 1960’s and he is an accomplished singer, songwriter and entertainer. He also opened the very first Beijing jazz club in 1999 call The Big Easy as well as playing along side a vast number of famous artists from all around the world.

Originally from the Philippines, Sweet has extensive experience in hospital settings and addiction treatment. She began her career in Intensive Care Units, Emergency Rooms, and Ward Areas. 

In 2013, she transitioned to DARA in Thailand, working as a Nurse Counselor and later as a Senior Nurse Administrator, where she built strong connections with patients and staff.

At Miracles Asia, Sweet combines her medical expertise with her commitment to helping clients on their recovery journey. Her calm demeanor ensures that all clients receive exceptional support & care.

Peter Evans
Peter is a dedicated support staff member at Miracles Asia, committed to helping individuals on their path to recovery. Born and raised in South London, Peter attended Wimbledon College before embarking on a diverse career in construction, publishing, teaching, and the Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation industry.

Having lived in Thailand for 18 years, primarily in Chiang Mai and now in Phuket, Peter brings a wealth of experience and cultural understanding to his role. With 28 years of sobriety, Peter is an active member of 12-step Recovery groups, where he has sponsored many individuals, guiding them towards a new, sober life.

Peter’s personal journey of recovery began in 1995 when he was given a second chance at life. The man who helped him asked only one thing in return: to pass it on. Peter has taken this to heart and continues to embody this spirit of giving back at Miracles Asia. Passionate about helping people transform their lives, Peter is known for his empathetic approach, patience, and unwavering support for those in recovery.

John Munro
John will most likely be your initial contact at Miracles Asia & he will help you with all aspects of your admission to the program. His background includes being a radio announcer in New Zealand before moving to The Gold Coast in Australia, where he ran his own TV business for several years.

Now based in Phuket, John enjoys ocean swimming on a regular basis, and continues to be active in national swim competitions back home in Australia. He is passionate about helping people from all areas of the world build a better life & achieve their goals.

John believes in a whatever it takes attitude with empathy, desire and commitment.

Emmet Corbett
BA (Hons), PGCert Trauma-Informed Care
Emmet Corbett brings extensive experience supporting individuals affected by trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. He began his career in youth work, supporting young people in post-conflict communities in Ireland, before moving into roles within homelessness and addiction recovery services.
Before joining Miracles Asia, Emmet served as a psychosocial facilitator at Ireland’s largest male-only accommodation center for international protection applicants, where he helped establish the country’s first in-house trauma-informed welfare team. He also trained staff in
trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practice. Emmet holds an Honours Degree in Social and Community Development and a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Care, and he is currently completing an MSc in Psychology. At Miracles Asia, he facilitates group and individual development sessions using a psychosocial and experiential approach to promote growth, connection, and self-awareness
in recovery.

ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR

MARIA REMICAR GAID
Originally from the Philippines, Maria is not a stranger when it comes to drug and alcohol rehabilitation environments. Back in 2015, she worked as the Admissions Coordinator in DARA Rehabilitation in Koh Chang, Thailand for 5 years, responsible for receiving and fielding enquiries from around the world. Prior to that, Maria has worked with the international BPO industry making it very comfortable for her to deal with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

Now in Miracles Asia, she continues to work passionately and is dedicated to helping clients on their journey to recovery. She believes that the only way to do great work is to love your work.

In addition, Maria holds two degrees; one in nursing and another in communications. This combination allows her to understand where our clients are coming from and to relate to them in a way that makes them feel really understood and heard.

Ryan Kelly
Originally from Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, Ryan attended Wayne State University in Detroit. Before finding Miracles Asia, he worked in sales and journalism.

Having lived in Thailand since 2021, with time spent in Vietnam and Costa Rica, Ryan is now deeply committed to his recovery journey, practicing it one day at a time. Miracles Asia transformed his life, guiding him to a new beginning that he cherishes. Grateful for the support he received, Ryan is dedicated to adding value to the vision at Miracles Asia in any way he can.

In addition to his role as Admissions Manager, Ryan runs Relapse Prevention group classes and 1-on-1 support sessions with in-house clients, providing valuable guidance and support. 

He believes wholeheartedly in the recovery program after experiencing firsthand what it has done for him. Ryan is confident that Miracles Asia is the right place for anyone who is looking to stop using drugs or alcohol.

Without struggle and difficulty, there would be no growth. When you are able to learn and grow from the difficult and painful moments life will inevitably present you with, you stop seeing things as good or bad. You realize that there is always the opportunity to turn a negative situation into a positive one with effort, practice and patience. Find purpose in your pain, and use it to help you grow.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

Justin is a Yoga Teacher and Buddhist Recovery Facilitator at Miracles Asia.

Justin started drinking and using drugs at an early age and eventually hit bottom at 34 from alcoholism.
Justin found recovery from alcohol and drugs through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, but after giving up his previous career as a Chef needed to find meaning and purpose in his life moving forward.
AA had started him down a spiritual path which led him to Ashtanga Yoga & Buddhist practices.
Having found meaning, discipline and serenity in his spirituality he moved to Mysore, India to delve deeper into his practices.
After four years of practice in Thailand and two years of training in India he began to share his knowledge with others.
He teaches simple, straight forward Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Mindfulness techniques to help people develop daily practices that will help them along their journey.
